Labels:text | screenshot | font | document | number | menu OCR: How to use your disc Getting started with Windows... you'd rather use the File, Run... pull-down menu in Windows, here's where the installation, or executable files are located on the disc (assuming your CD-ROM is D:)... 1 If you've used one of our coverdiscs before, you don't need to install anything to use this month's disc! Simply insert the new disc into the drive and double click the CD-ROM Today icon in Windows. Easy! 1 King's Quest VII: D:\SETUP.EXE 2 Astound Test Flight: D:\ASTOUND\SETUP.EXE 2 If you've never used one of our discs, or if you deleted the old icon, you'll have to set up a new one. First start Windows, and make sure the CD-ROM Today disc is in your CD drive. In the Windows Program Manager... 3 Blender Magazine: D:\BLENDER\FILES\WINOPEN. EXE 4 Adventures with Oslo: D:\OSLO\OSLO. EXE 3 Select the program group where you want to place the icon by single-clicking it. Then use the File menu and select the New... option. When a dialog box appears, choose the Program Item option. 5 People Magazine: D:\PEOPLWIN\ PEOPLE.EXE How Computers Work: D:\HCWDEMO\HCWDEMO. EXE 4 Browse the CD-ROM drive (usually D:) and select the file CDRTODAY.EXE. Click OK at the message about the CD being a network path (a bit of Windows silliness). DOS demos... 5 That process will install the CD-ROM Today icon on your screen. To run the disc, all you need to do is double-click the icon. We've included a simple DOS interface for installing and running the demos. Quit from Windows, and at the prompt of your CD-ROM drive (normally D:) type GO and press Enter. The DOS interface caters for PCs where the hard drive is C:, and the CD-ROM drive is D: or E:. If your PC is not set up in this way, turn to the disc pages of the magazine for manual installation procedures. Windows demos... Many of the PC demos on the disc are for Windows and you can install or run most of them from the CD-ROM Today program.
